Guillermo Videla Richardson has a degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences (FCEyN) of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). Between 2009 and 2014 he did his doctoral thesis at the Department of Biological Chemistry of the FCEyN under the direction of Dr. María Elida Scassa, establishing and characterizing a model of cell lines derived from patients with brain tumors (Glioblastoma). After completing his PhD thesis, Guillermo continued working on this model, studying different aspects of the biology of these tumors (cell proliferation, chemo-resistance and cell response to hypoxic conditions). During this period, he directed three undergraduate theses and obtained a position as Head of Practical Works, working in the course “Immunochemistry” (FCEyN, UBA). In 2019 he was appointed Assistant Researcher of CONICET. Currently, under the direction of Dr. Gustavo E. Sevlever and Dr. Gabriel A. Rabinovich, Guillermo is developing projects aimed at understanding the role of galectins in immunomodulation and vascularization of high-grade brain tumors.
