LIAN fellows presented their work at the 3rd SY-Stem European Symposium on stem cells.
The LIAN fellows, Soledad Rodriguez Varela and Sofía Mucci, presented the progress of their doctoral work at the 3rd Symposium on Stem Cell Research, SY-Stem 2021, organized by the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (Research Institute of Molecular Pathology, IMP) in conjunction with the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Soledad’s work aimed to identify a series of small non-coding RNAs, called micro RNAs (miRNAs), which play a crucial role in the regulation of the stem cell cell cycle. For her part, Sofía presented an experimental in vitro model of neurons derived from human pluripotent cells for the study of molecular mechanisms associated with neurodegeneration processes. Both studies were led by Dr. Leonardo Romorini, CONICET associate researcher.
SY-Stem, is an international annual meeting held in the city of Vienna, which seeks to convene the future generation of stem cell researchers, as well as to strengthen the cooperative spirit in this field. On this occasion, the event had pluripotency, early development, organogenesis and disease modeling in stem cells as thematic axes, bringing together renowned specialists who shared their latest advances in these areas of research.
